project

modern creative jazz

Odmarc is a hybrid Ensemble, which sways between the melodic worlds of classical, contemporary jazz and traditional music from the eastern mediterranean area. During their music studies in Linz, Austria Odysseas Manidakis (composition, piano/synth, bouzouki, greek lute) and Marco Mrcela (percussion) developed into a musical duo, which performs in various artistic events in Linz, collaborating with different guest musicians for each occasion.

Godly rituals is an experimental project, which is performed by the Odmarc Ensemble. Our inspiration is on one hand the myths and narrations about the gods of the greek antiquity and on the other the enthusiasm to play together and create music that we perform ourselves. The cycle of pieces belonging to the project Godly rituals are put down on paper by Odysseas Manidakis and could be seen as musical portraits of each god. Through a creative process of composing, improvising, jamming and reflecting, we create different musical environments for each one of the gods, exploring unusual techniques on the instruments and providing a playroom for self-expression, in search of a portal to this mythical cosmos and from it, into our modern intricate world. Our concerts often include poetry readings, story-telling and a pinch of scenic dramaturgy. We want to challenge ourselves, we are looking for a golden balance between meticulous composition and impulsive improvisation and we can’t wait to embrace you in our ritual.
